| The MBW400 is a sophisticated liquid-cooled permanent magnet synchronous motor for direct-drive use in vehicle propulsion. The basic design is ideally suited to OEM products for a wide variety of applications where the external rotor and compact internal stator deliver a maximum torque-to-weight ratio at low rotation speeds. In the first operating range, the motor delivers a constant torque from zero up to the base speed. The motor supply holds a constant voltage as the RPM and frequency increase, reaching maximum supply voltage at the base speed.The MBW400 is uniquely suited to applications where the external rotor serves as the base wheel mount. The motor produces almost no rotor heat, and negligible electromagnetic losses. Any minimal power loss in the stator is distributed in the stator winding and core.
In the second operating range from the base speed to the maximum speed, the motor operates under “flux weakening” conditions. In this range the mechanical power is constant as the output torque follows a hyperbolic decrease. Again, the supply voltage is held constant as the RPM and frequency increase.
